SECO Warehouse / Operations Position - September 2026Brief Overview - SECO is a long-established stocking distributor of laboratory products including scientific glassware, general supplies, equipment, and chemicals. Operating from an 8,000 square foot facility in Aston, PA, the company was founded in 1933 and is currently in a significant growth phase. This role supports daily operations that keep product flowing from inbound freight to customer shipments and local deliveries.
Position Summary - This is a diversified warehouse and operations role responsible for all aspects of receiving, order fulfillment, restocking, local deliveries using the company box truck, warehouse organization, and select administrative tasks to improve operational efficiency. The successful candidate will work closely with purchasing and customer service to ensure accurate inventory, timely shipments, and safe handling of materials.
Primary Responsibilities
- Receiving: Unload and inspect incoming freight daily; reconcile shipments against packing lists; enter receipts into the computer system accurately; report and help resolve discrepancies, shortages, or damages with purchasing and customer service. Aim to complete receipts for shipments that arrive before 1:00 PM, resuming receiving after shipping tasks are complete.
- Shipping / Order Fulfillment: Prepare UPS, LTL, and company truck shipments. Ensure all UPS and LTL labels printed prior to 1:00 PM are tendered the same day. Complete local deliveries within 24-48 hours. Identify and stage products for future orders.
- Re-stocking: Label and move inbound stock to proper locations; complete put-aways within two business days; adjust shelving and stock zones as required.
- Warehouse Management: Maintain an orderly, clean, and safe workspace; manage shipping supplies and material handling equipment; propose workflow and storage improvements.
- Special Services & Additional Duties: Deliver and restock customer stockrooms, pick up returnable drums, maintain the box truck and hazmat (Dangerous Goods) software, and foster relationships with UPS and LTL representatives.
- Special Projects: Contribute ideas to improve operations such as new order tables, material handling equipment, negotiated freight rates, and enhanced shelving solutions.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years warehouse experience.
- Clean legal and drug history; reliable attendance record.
- Clean driving record.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and/or CFR 49 hazardous materials training.
- Ability to lift materials that may occasionally exceed 70 lbs.
- General computer skills and familiarity with inventory systems.
- Three professional references that speak to teamwork and reliability.
- Interest in a long-term, site-based position.
