Location:Madrid, M, ESAbout the Role
As a Climate Risk Specialist, you will contribute to the development of adaptation and resilience solutions across multiple hazards and geographies. You will support both methodological advancement and client-facing activities, gaining exposure to product development and applied risk analytics.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting research and analysis of adaptation measures, including assessment of ROI and risk mitigation impacts
- Contributing to the enhancement of our climate risk reporting framework by integrating diverse data sources into client-ready outputs leveraging AI solutions
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to refine methodologies and improve existing solutions
- Engaging with clients to gather feedback, validate concepts and support product-market fit
This role offers hands-on experience in a collaborative, international environment and exposure to cutting-edge climate risk analytics.
About the Team
As climate change reshapes the global risk landscape, our Climate and Nature Team in Risk Engineering Services plays a key role in advancing innovative, data-driven solutions that help clients understand and manage physical climate and nature-related risks.
Operating at the intersection of science, analytics and product development, we support Swiss Re's innovation and sustainability ambitions by delivering actionable insights that enable long-term value creation.
About You
You are a highly motivated and analytically strong professional with a passion for climate risk and sustainability and ideally bring prior relevant experience in applied or client-facing environments.
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in civil engineering, natural sciences, computational sciences, or a related technical field
- Prior work experience in climate risk, resilience engineering, or related applied research (industry-focused experience is strongly preferred)
- Experience in interacting with clients or stakeholders is a strong advantage
- Strong understanding of physical climate risks, resilience strategies, and adaptation planning
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks related to physical climate risk is an asset
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills (Python proficiency)
- Experience with AI tools such as AI Report Builder
- Structured, self-driven, and solution-oriented working style
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English
Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week. The base salary range for this position will be shared with you during the interview process.
