As a Senior Buyer, you'll be an integral part of that mission managing sourcing strategies, building relationships with suppliers, and ensuring the materials that power our customers' innovations are delivered on time and to the highest standards.
About the Role:
The Senior Buyer (Supply Chain Buyer III) position is a key leadership role within our strategic plan for Supply Chain management. As the Buyer (III), you will be part of a team of buyers working with a large military customer in order to provide extreme customer service during quoting, purchasing, managing unique projects, customer calls and customer communication. There are many projects being managed at the same time with many due dates and critical completion requirements in order to keep customer on track for their programs. Weekly and up to daily conference calls, spreadsheets and other written communication required with many divisions of the customer in which each may desire to be communicated with differently. Joint resources between Spartronics and the customer required in order to manager suppliers, lead time, conflicts and other constraints. Many other unique requests and results needed daily.
Core Responsibilities
- Coordinate cross functionally with Engineering and Program Management personnel
- Military/Government purchasing responsibilities and/or management of complex customers
- Working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and (DFAR)
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and coaching to team members
- Manage strategic suppliers and commodities to meet quality, delivery and cost savings objectives
- Participate in customer discussions as required
- Create and manage purchase orders
- Manage suppliers for purchase orders to ensure quality and on time delivery
- Maintain the integrity of MRP parameters (lot/order size, lead time, and safety stock)
- Coordinate quality issues with suppliers as required
- Work closely with manufacturing, shipping/receiving, and project management personnel to avoid any adverse production impact from supplier delivery delays
- Analyze, compare and interpret detailed and sometimes poorly defined information; make sound and accurate judgments based on previous knowledge
- Recommend more efficient and proficient processes
- Negotiation skills used to meet cost savings and cash management objectives
- Full working knowledge of ERP/MRP execution to meet company requirements
- Execute material quotation process by gathering and analyzing cost data, using Excel to summarize analyses
- Prepare and issue RFP's with appropriate customer flow downs, terms and conditions
- Work independently; requesting help as needed, but managing work load to meet deadlines, including overtime when required
- Thrives in fast-paced environment and able to problem solve, with good business ethics
- Other duties as assigned
Education
Preferred:
- APICS Certification
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field
Required:
- High school diploma or GED required
- 5-8 years related work experience
- MRP planning system
- Experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and (DFAR)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, verbal and organizational skills, ability to balance short term priorities and exceptional information analysis
- Excellent negotiating skills, project management, time management, written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to make independent decisions/judgments regarding analysis of requirements, analysis of quotes, negotiation and source selection
- Must be able to read and understand drawings and technical specifications
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills; must be able to navigate the Internet efficiently and effectively
- Professional attitude and demeanor
