The Central Hawkes Bay District Council is recruiting a Principal Contract and Asset Manager to lead and support the management of its key land transport contracts. In this senior role, you’ll ensure the Council’s contract, asset and performance management systems are robust, future-focused and aligned with our wider infrastructure strategy.
Working closely with the Land Transport Manager and a wide range of internal and external partners, you’ll champion data quality, evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvements in the way we manage our district’s roading assets. Your leadership will directly support Council’s priorities around Accountable Delivery and Resilient Roading, helping our community thrive.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and enhance roading contract and asset management systems, identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities.
- Manage the collection, quality and maintenance of asset data to support informed decision-making.
- Develop and maintain performance metrics aligned with key result areas and KPIs.
- Build strong working relationships with contract partners, internal teams and asset management service providers.
- Support the development of Land Transport management plans, renewals processes and capital works programmes.
Requirements
What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years’ relevant experience in road network management - could include contracting, consulting, transport agency or council experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Build strong, positive relationships at all levels.
- Experienced in contract administration / management.
- Understand asset management frameworks and systems.
