Valencia College seeks a strategic, innovative, and collaborative leader to serve as the Manager, Risk Management & Contract Compliance.
As the Manager of Risk Management & Contract Compliance, you will play a critical role in protecting the college’s legal, financial, and reputational interests. Reporting to the Director of Contracts & Records, this position is responsible for managing the college-wide risk management program, including insurance coverage, contract risk assessments, and vendor compliance.
You will work closely with departments across the college to identify potential risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote consistent contract and insurance practices. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional who can evaluate risk, advise stakeholders, and support the college in maintaining strong, compliant business relationships.
The individual in this role will have the opportunity to:
- Manage the college’s liability and property/casualty insurance programs, including coordination with the Florida College System Risk Management Consortium.
- Develop and enforce contract insurance requirements, ensuring appropriate coverage types, limits, and vendor compliance through certificate of insurance reviews.
- Evaluate contracts for legal, financial, and reputational risk, and provide clear recommendations to reduce exposure and align with institutional risk tolerance.
- Partner with Legal, Procurement, and other departments to review contract terms and ensure agreements meet regulatory and internal standards.
- Investigate incidents and manage claims related to student injuries, workers’ compensation, property damage, and safety concerns, while leading risk mitigation efforts.
- Provide training and policy guidance, and take proactive steps to identify, communicate, and defend risk-related decisions that protect the college.

Additional Information:
- This position will operate in a primarily remote environment with the exception of occasional on-site trainings or events.

Requirements
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:
- Knowledge of risk management, insurance, and contract compliance principles, with a strong understanding of local, state, and federal laws – preferably in the public sector.
- Proven experience reviewing and evaluating contracts for risk, setting insurance requirements, and aligning them with institutional risk tolerance.
- Ability to make independent decisions, take initiative without close supervision, and confidently defend risk-related recommendations.
- Strong communication skills to explain complex risk issues clearly and professionally to various stakeholders.
- A bachelor’s degree in risk management, business, finance, or a related field; Associate in Risk Management (ARM) certification is a plus.
- Experience in enterprise risk management (ERM) and applying ERM frameworks in an organizational setting.
