About this role
Full-time thoracic surgeons at ProCure are committed to revolutionizing the field of thoracic organ recovery in the United States, alongside our team of coordinators, thoracic surgeons, abdominal surgeons, perfusionists, and operations specialists. You will support your implanting surgical colleagues by providing the full spectrum of thoracic procurement procedures (brain-dead heart and lung, DCD lung, and NRP), using each case as an opportunity to mentor trainees, advance research, and generally improve the quality and professionalism of the organ recovery system. Outside of the operating room, full-time surgeons hold important positions of leadership with focus on professional education, operations and logistics, informatics, transplant policy, and the many other components of ProCure’s mission. Compensation is comprised of a base salary with additional fees for each case completed, and overall case volume targets are set to maintain exceptional total compensation while allowing a healthy balance of operative and non-operative pursuits.
Essential Functions
Independent evaluation and recovery of thoracic organs (heart, lung, heart-lung) for transplantation
Education of residents/fellows in thoracic recovery in their roles as paid assistants
Development and continuous review of ProCure’s surgical recovery practices
Multi-disciplinary collaboration within ProCure in support of education, quality, process improvement, and other critical aspect of ProCure’s operations
Direct interaction with clients, providing key insight into ProCure’s ability to support their needs
Recruitment and support of regional “network” thoracic recovery surgeons (contracted and credentialed surgeon who provide organ recovery services through ProCure on an ad hoc basis)
Qualifications
Active ACIN credentials for heart and lung recovery
Facility and comfort with independent organ recovery from brain-dead donors, at a minimum, though experience with donation after cardiac death (DCD) is in high demand
Outstanding interpersonal communication skills; ability to work calmly under pressure; consummate professionalism in every aspect
