Job Summary
The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and executing daily inbound and outbound logistics operations while providing day-to-day leadership to shipping, receiving, and warehouse personnel. This hands-on role oversees shipping, receiving, material movement, transportation coordination, inventory transactions, team supervision, safety compliance, quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives. The position ensures accurate ERP transactions, timely deliveries, efficient material flow, and effective support of production and customer requirements while maintaining operational excellence and workplace safety.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform daily shipping and receiving activities including picking, packing, unloading, labeling, and processing system transactions.
Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments to customers, vendors, and project sites.
Process and verify shipping, receiving, and inventory transactions within ERP systems.
Troubleshoot shipping, receiving, transportation, and documentation issues.
Plan, schedule, and prioritize logistics activities to meet production and customer deadlines.
Coordinate transportation services and freight carriers to optimize cost and delivery performance.
Collaborate with production, purchasing, sales, and project teams regarding delivery schedules and material requirements.
Communicate with carriers, vendors, and internal departments to resolve shipment delays and service issues.
Oversee receiving operations, including material verification, inspections, staging, and inventory control.
Ensure timely movement of materials to support production and distribution activities.
Maintain organized storage and staging areas to improve efficiency and material handling.
Provide daily direction, work assignments, and support to shipping, receiving, and warehouse personnel.
Assist with employee onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management.
Monitor attendance, productivity, and compliance with company policies.
Promote safe work practices and participate in safety programs and training initiatives.
Ensure compliance with quality management procedures and operational standards.
Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce operational waste.
Participate in workflow optimization, process mapping, and continuous improvement projects.
Support implementation of new technologies, ERP enhancements, and logistics process improvements.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements / Skills
High School Diploma or GED required.
5+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, logistics, warehouse, or supply chain operations.
Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of logistics coordination, inventory control, and warehouse operations.
Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and inventory management software.
Understanding of transportation, freight, shipping documentation, and receiving processes.
Knowledge of material handling equipment and safe loading practices.
Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and team coordination abilities.
Ability to analyze operational data and identify process improvements.
Experience working in fast-paced operational environments.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate Degree or equivalent experience.
Previous leadership, supervisory, or team coordination experience.
Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
Hoist and crane operation experience or ability to obtain certification.
Experience supporting manufacturing production flow and scheduling.
Knowledge of quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
